Banting, one of many low-carb diets, have been helping people struggling with obesity and other medical condition, lose weight and get healthy for decades. But because low-carb is associated with high fat people tend to be skeptical about how healthy Banting really is. In fact people assume that because of the high-fat in this diet that you can suffer from high cholesterol and heart disease! Throughout the years studies have shown that low-carb diets stand out above all the other diets. On a low-carb high-fat diet you will lose more weight than its low-fat competitor. Not only will you lose more weight on a low-carb diet but you are also more likely to complete and stick to your Banting diet. Overall low-carb diets have an outstanding safety profile.

So this is for those people telling you that your Banting diet is not healthy and unsustainable. Here is my top 6 reasons why you should “not” be Banting

Weight loss

Yeah who wants to lose weight, it’s not like obesity is a major problem in today’s world!?

Low-carb diets are extremely effective when it comes to fat loss. Especially when it comes to Visceral fat.

Now if you don’t know what visceral fat is, it’s harmful fat that attaches to your organs. Reducing Visceral fat reduces your chances of getting type 2 diabetes and heart disease!

Banting is great for fat loss and not only will you lose weight fast but you’ll be able to see results and feel better than ever in just your first month!

Increases your (HDL) good cholesterol.

Wait there’s no such thing as good cholesterol, is there?

Yep there is! Here’s a better look at cholesterol

HDL – High Density Lipoprotein

LDL – Low Density Lipoprotein

These lipoproteins carry around cholesterol in your blood, Bad cholesterol (LDL) is carried from the liver to the rest of your body were Good (HDL)cholesterol is carried away from the body to where it can be reused or removed. Eating good fat increases your HDL aka  good cholesterol.

Decrease in Triglycerides.

Woooo! Triglycerides! What’s that again?

Triglycerides are fat molecules found in your bloodstream. When you eat your body converts any calories that it doesn’t need to use at that time into triglycerides and are than stored in fat cells. Your hormones released triglycerides for energy between meals.

High levels of triglyceride can cause heart disease especially in people with low levels of good cholesterol, high levels of bad cholesterol and even type 2 diabetes

It reduces blood sugar and insulin levels

Millions of people suffer from type 2 diabetes,no big deal. Yes it is, people who suffer high-risk for type 2 diabetes are people who suffers from obesity and have family members that suffer from type 2 diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes usually begins with insulin resistance this is when your body’s cells do not use insulin probably. The source of the problem lies with carbohydrates. By cutting down on carbohydrates you stop your body from needing all that insulin and both your blood sugar and insulin levels will drop. Banting type 2 diabetics can cut down or eliminate the need for their medication within 6 months!

  • if you suffer from type two diabetes and would like to start Banting you should consult your doctor first before changing your diet or medication to prevent hypoglycemia.

No appetite! You’ll never be hungry again!

Why wouldn’t you want to be hungry all the time? Who doesn’t like constantly thinking of food and feeling like you’re going to pass out if you don’t eat that slice of cake right now!

Banting kill your appetite but sounds worse than what it is. When you’re eating low-carb your body has two sources of energy. The fats that you consume and the fats that your body has stored over the year(s) from eating all those carbohydrate. Since fat is extremely filling you stay fuller for longer, craving less because your body already has a perfectly good source of energy known as……you’re own fat!

Having no appetite does not mean that you shouldn’t be eating. Normally Banters eat 2 to 3 meals that looks a little like this: a nice Bacon and egg breakfast, salad for lunch and a little bit of protein and veg for dinner.

It reduces your blood pressure.

High blood pressure is linked to many risk factors like heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and many others

So lowering your carbs will lower your blood pressure, lowering your chances of getting these common diseases.
